The Shout is a 1978 film by Jerzy Skolimowski based on a short story by Robert Graves. It stars Alan Bates as a mysterious traveling musician in Devon who invades the lives of a young couple, played by Susannah York, and John Hurt. He has learned from an Aboriginal shaman how to produce a "terror shout" that can kill anyone who hears it unprotected. The North Devon coastline, specifically Saunton Sands and Braunton Burrows, was used for the bulk of the location shooting. Although it’s fallen into obscurity in recent years, this 1978 film marked something of a milestone in British horror with its unique narrative and unprecedented (for the time) use of sound. It’s still a fascinating piece of work that remains a triumph of audacity and imagination.
The Shout' is one of the most underrated thrillers of the 70s, and should be spoken of in the same breath as the much more celebrated 'Don't Look Now' and 'The Wicker Man'. All three put complex and original adult approaches to the supernatural thriller genre. Alan Bates ('Whistle Down The Wind') really shines in this movie as the mysterious and charismatic stranger cum shaman Crossley, who turns a comfortably bohemian middle class marriage upside down.

Both the transcription of the English subs from the audio and the Spanish subs are my own work, for the veinticuatrofps tracker.
