This is the third installment of samurai drama trilogy by director Yoji Yamada, based on the fiction by Shuhei Fujisawa. Although stands apart, each of the trilogy deals with a similar theme : a low-ranked samurai who faces a character-testing difficulties. Gone are the swashbuckling protagonist, instead Mr Yamada’s samurai faces many burdens and struggles in life and ultimately must make difficult choice to survive. LOVE AND HONOR takes a look at the relationship between a young blind samurai (Kimura) and his wife, who will make a sacrifice in order to defend her husband's honor.
